Dear faculty and staff,
I am pleased to announce that Mr. Colin Donahue, currently Associate Vice President of Facilities Development and Operations, has been appointed Vice President for Administration and Finance & CFO. His appointment becomes effective July 1, 2013.
Given this time of transition for the university, I am delighted that in Mr. Donahue we found a strong internal candidate who is very familiar with the campus and its environment and culture of collaboration. In addition, the interview process and his record of accomplishments demonstrated that he clearly possesses the vision and leadership skills necessary to move the university and the Administration and Finance Division forward. His accomplishments at CSUN have included managing a successful $850 million capital development program with an excellent audit record; playing a lead role in developing the Envision 2035 campus master plan; leading the development of complex budgets and financial plans for several capital projects, including student housing, several parking structures and all aspects related to the planning, design, construction, and fiscal management of the $125 million Valley Performing Arts Center. He also has a demonstrated commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency and innovation.
Mr. Donahue began working at CSUN in 1996 as Manager of Construction Services and, from 2000 to 2006, served as Director of Facilities Planning, before being appointed Associate Vice President. Prior to his arrival here, he worked for several construction management companies in the private sector in various project engineer and manager roles. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology from Cal Poly Pomona and a Master of Public Administration from CSUN.
My thanks to the search and screen committee for its work. The members are Interim Vice President for University Advancement William Jennings (chair), Physics and Astronomy Chair Christina Cadavid, Kinesiology Chair Shane Frehlich, Mechanical Engineering Professor Michael Kabo, Education Psychology and Counseling Chair Shari Tarver-Behring, and Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students William Watkins.
Please join me in congratulating Colin for this well deserved recognition of his record of accomplishment and excellent service to the university.
