Summary of 9th Year Review Findings from Chancellor Reed

November 23, 2009

To the Campus Community:

This past fall, the Board of Trustees of the California State University conducted its ninth year review of my performance as president of Cal State Northridge. An open letter from the Chancellor to the campus communitywas distributed in August announcing the review and inviting people to submit their comments. The announcement is posted at http://www.csun.edu/presofc/presletters/presletter-01-2009-10-9yearreview-openltr.html.

Now that the Board has completed its review, Chancellor Charles B. Reed has summarized the findings in a letter and asked me to make his summary publicly available. The document has been posted at http://www.csun.edu/presofc/presletters/presletter-2009-11-22-9yearreviewsummaryltr.html. (A copy of the Chancellor’s official letter may be downloaded from the website or requested from the President’s Office.)

Everyone at Cal State Northridge should take great pride in the review’s positive findings because they reflect your individual and collective hard work and dedication. Despite the significant challenges that face the University due to the budget crisis, the review found that the campus community as a whole remains confident about the future and believes we are on the right track and moving in the right direction.

The accomplishments described in the summary would not have been possible without your support, hard work, and commitment to excellence. The findings are a reminder of how fortunate we are to have a strong leadership team and a group of dedicated faculty and staff with a shared commitment to excellence in service to students and the community. I hope these findings, and the goals that have been outlined for the campus community for the coming years, are a point of pride for you and provide further inspiration for outstanding work at the University.
