Update on Recruitment and Selection Process for Next Campus President

August 17, 2011

To the Campus Community:

This message is to update you on developments relating to the selection of my successor as president for California State University, Northridge.

At the July 12, 2011 CSU Board of Trustees meeting, Board Chair Herb Carter appointed a subcommittee of the Board of Trustees to review the Board of Trustees¹ recruitment, selection, appointment, and compensation processes for new campus presidents. The Board of Trustees¹ intent is to identify ways in which these processes might be improved in anticipation of a relatively large number of potential presidential retirements in the next several years.  The subcommittee is scheduled to report their findings and recommendations to the full Board at the September 20-21, 2011 Board of Trustees meeting.

After the Board and the Chancellor have had an opportunity to consider these recommendations, the campus will be informed of the next steps regarding the search for the next president. Please be assured that as the details of the search and transition period are decided, this information will be communicated with the campus community.

I wish all of you a productive and satisfying beginning of our fall 2011 semester. In the remaining months of this calendar year I personally look forward to the opportunity to complete work that will facilitate a smooth transition and to taking opportunities to thank you for your support and continued dedication and hard work on behalf of Cal State Northridge.

Through the strength of the Cal State Northridge community, our University¹s reputation and excellence continues to grow and flourish.

Jolene Koester
President
