On May 16, 2012, CSU Executive Vice Chancellor and CFO Benjamin F. Quillian released a memo to all members of the California State University community to participate in the May 23 meeting of the Systemwide Budget Advisory Committee.
The full copy of that memo is available here.
Below is the message from Interim President Harry Hellenbrand to the campus community about the meeting:
May 18, 2012
To the Campus Community:
The Systemwide Budget Advisory Committee (SBAC), a group with broad systemwide representation that advises the Chancellor and his executive staff on support budget issues, will be meeting from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 to develop and discuss strategies and ideas for reducing costs and enhancing revenues to address the significant reduction in state funding the California State University faces.
A memo from CSU Executive Vice Chancellor and CFO Benjamin F. Quillian about the meeting has been posted at the following link: http://www.csun.edu/presofc/campusbudgetnews/SBAC_meeting.shtml
As noted in Executive Vice Chancellor Quillian's memo, in order to ensure the meeting is productive and can benefit from the input and ideas of the entire CSU community, the Trustees have asked the Chancellor and the campuses to give everyone in the CSU system an opportunity to participate.
Towards this end, I am pleased to announce that the meeting will be webcast on May 23 in the Jack and Florence Ferman Presentation Room in the west wing at the lower level of the Oviatt Library. Chris Xanthos, Director of Administrative Services for Administration and Finance, will serve as the facilitator at the event.
Executive Vice Chancellor Quillian's memo contains instructions on how questions can be submitted in advance of the meeting. As noted in the link, questions may be submitted via a link on the SBAC page at http://www.calstate.edu/budget/fybudget/presentations-communications/budget-strategies/.
A limited number of computer connections for people who prefer to observe the meetings from their desktop are also available. For information on pre-registering for a computer connection and more details about the meeting, please see Executive Vice Chancellor Quillian's memo and the above SBAC link. A recording of the webcast will be made available immediately following the meeting.
Given the serious challenges the CSU faces, the webcast is a unique opportunity for everyone in the campus community to be part of the budget process and contribute ideas. For these reasons, I encourage everyone with an interest in contributing to attend the webcast.
