President's Office

Congratulations banner for CSUN graduates / Fall 2015 Welcome Back Address

May 4, 2015

To CSUN Faculty and Staff,

This is my favorite time of year, when universities have an opportunity to celebrate the culmination of the academic year with commencement. For the more than 10,000 students we will honor at this year's commencement, the walk across the stage will mark the fulfillment of years of hard work and determination. It is a time for happy memories that will be deeply cherished by our graduating students, their families and their friends.

Continuing a tradition that began two years ago, I am pleased to announce that a banner from CSUN's staff and faculty congratulating our graduates for successfully completing their degree program will be again prominently displayed on the Oviatt Library quad during graduation week.

I invite you to sign the banner and share your special notes and good wishes. The banner will be available for signing in the Colleagues Room on the second floor of the Sierra Center, on Tuesday, May 5, Thursday, May 7, and Friday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. In past years, we have received many appreciative comments from the graduates and their families, so I hope that even more of you can find time to share your congratulatory comments. Let's fill the banner with good wishes for our graduates!

Let me also take this opportunity to thank each of you for your hard work and contributions this past academic year. It has been a time of great accomplishment that was only possible with the focus, talent and commitment of CSUN's faculty and staff. I hope each of you have an opportunity to enjoy the summer with family and friends!

Finally, I hope you will also take a moment to note on your calendars the President's annual fall welcome address to kick off the 2015-16 academic year on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the Valley Performing Arts Center. I look forward to seeing you there after a restful summer to celebrate the start of a fresh academic year.
