CDO Announcement

April 21, 2017

To the Campus Community:

I would like to share with you the news that Dr. Raji Rhys, Chief Diversity Officer, has given notice that she will leave the university on April 25, 2017, in order to attend to personal family business, particularly her mother who is facing significant health issues. Appointed as our first CDO last year, she brought a wealth of research based knowledge with her and helped launch the work of the Commission on Diversity and Inclusion. Please join me in wishing Dr. Rhys well.

As we begin the process to search for an interim CDO, which will be followed by a national search for a new CDO appointment, I am pleased to announce that Ms. Susan Hua, Director of Equity and Diversity and Title IX Coordinator, will serve as acting administrator in charge.  We will proceed quickly in the search process to ensure that the work of the Commission on Diversity and Inclusion and other efforts under the responsibility of the CDO continue to move forward.

I am grateful to Ms. Hua for allowing us to advance our efforts in this area and will keep the campus community apprised as we move forward on the search for a new CDO appointment.

Dianne F. Harrison, Ph.D.
