To faculty and staff:
During these challenging budgetary times, we welcome your suggestions for how the University can save money and achieve efficiencies while continuing to carry out our University mission.
As discussed during my Budget Forums with Faculty and Staff earlier this month, we have created a Campus Budget Suggestion Website. Its purpose is to solicit suggestions from you. The website is linked to the Campus Budget News Website at /campusbudgetnews which is also accessible from the main campus webpage at http://www.csun.edu. [Note: The website is now closed to suggestions.]
I would like to encourage you to submit suggestions related to the following categories of the Cal State Northridge budget planning process:
- Ways to reduce or eliminate expenditures to save money in the current fiscal year.
- Longer-term administrative/business process and technology changes to create structural savings to our base budget over the next three years.
- Adjustments to enrollment practices to save money or generate additional revenue.
Please submit your suggestions by October 15, 2009.
While we are unable to respond back to you directly regarding individual suggestions, ideas submitted to this site will be passed on to appropriate personnel and committees, and we anticipate holding forums during the month following the October 15 deadline to work through implementation issues. Summaries also will be provided via the President’s Blog and/or other campus communications.
