March 15, 2010

The dept. of Physics and Astronomy welcomes Dr. Bing Dong and Mr. Xi Zhang who have joined Dr. Ren’s research projects in the department as postdoctorate fellow and a visting scholar, respectively.

 

Feb. 2, 2010

Professor Donna Sheng was recently chosen as an American Competitiveness and Innovation fellow. This award comes with a 375K 5 year NSF grant to fund Dr. Sheng's research on strongly correlated systems.

 

Jan.. 2, 2010

Assistant professors Igor Beloborodov and Henk Postma recently received the Cottrell College Science Awards from the Research Corporation.

Sept. 2, 2009

The department welcomes three new arrivals:

Dr. Alex Zharov from the Illinois Institute of Technology has joined as post-doctoral fellow the group of Professor  Igor Beloborodov.

Dr. Zi Li  and Dr. Dr. Xu Zhang (in October)  from the Department of Physics at  Tshinghua University,  have joined as post-doctoral fellows the group of Professor Gang Lu.

 

June, 2009

Congratulation to  Professor Nicholas Kioussis  for receiving the 2009 CSUN Outstanding Faculty Award. This award  honors faculty members who have established an extraordinary record of contribution to the learning experience of their students and to their discipline.

Professor Debi Choudary has been chosen to organize the IAU (International Astronomical Union) symposium 273 on the "Physics of Sun and Star Spots". The conference will be held in Los Angeles on 23-26 August 2010

Professor Deqing Ren has received $547,581 from NSF to support the project  "CAREER: a Portable Solar Adaptive Optics System for High-Resolution Imaging Investigations".
