Noel Charles Edwards

Noel Charles Edwards

After taking a year off between high school and college, Noel Charles Edwards entered Cal State Northridge in the Fall of 2002 as a Computer Engineering major. He chose Cal State Northridge because it was close to home and the company where he works as a Sound Engineer.

Soon after arriving on campus Noel decided to get involved and joined Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He says that joining the fraternity gave him an outlet to enjoy himself outside of the classroom, gave him the chance to get to know new people and more importantly gave him a support system that has helped him throughout his entire college career. Noel has served as the Tau Kappa Epsilon Treasurer for two years and is currently its chapter President. He also served as the Treasurer for the Inter-Fraternity Council. He says his fraternity brothers and other leaders in other fraternities really have been an incredible support to help choose the best professors for him, helped him with classes and were there to ground him when stressors in life became overwhelming. Through the fraternity he has also been able to meet so many people in the music industry that he has helped or have helped him with his career in Sound Engineering. He says the fraternity also got him out on to campus to enjoy the activities and events that are put on for the students. This includes the most recent "Associated Students Big Show" where Common played a free concert to students. "It was incredible to see such a diverse group of students of such different backgrounds coming together to enjoy the same music."

Noel also changed his major to Business Management and feels that this is a much better fit for his future. He has had three professors that really have inspired him that he will never forget. One in particular was Dr. Carter, a Pan-African Studies professor, who taught him how to live life, how to grow up and most importantly how to learn from his mistakes. Professor Carter showed them that there was more to learn then what was written in books and always took time out to see how Noel was doing when he saw him walking on campus. Noel feels that he has learned just as much outside of the classroom as he has inside. "CSUN has allowed me to see what the world is like. It has exposed to me to other cultures and has assisted me in learning how to communicate with people who are different from me."

Upon graduation Noel intends to continue his work as a Sound Engineer and hopes to put his Business Management degree to good use, planning tours and awards shows. "My Business Management degree will allow me to organize the entire package, from sound, lighting, video, projection and everything in between."
