Campus Life

Aquatics
Looking to catch some rays? How about getting in a good workout? Well now you can have the best of both worlds! The Fitness Centre's outdoor Jr. Olympic size aquatic pool is kept at a soothing 78-82 F. The pool depth ranges from 3 ½ feet to 9 feet. Games Room
The Games Room is located in the University Student Union and is equipped with pool tables and today's most popular arcade games including Street Fighter and Dance Dance Revolution. The Games Room also offers recreational activities and programs such as table tennis, billiard competitions, Texas Hold'em tournaments, and gatherings for campus organizations. Fitness Centre
The purpose of the Fitness Centre's programs and services is to offer CSUN students, faculty/staff, alumni, and the community the opportunity to engage in a healthy lifestyle. A partnership between Associated Students and the University Student Union, the Fitness Centre serves a membership base of 4,000 patrons. You are sure to get in a good workout in our facilities which include a cardiovascular and weight machines room, a free weights room, and a boxing room. Through our facility, equipment, and human resources, the Fitness Centre provides a motivational environment in which we encouraged you to maximize your results. University Student Union
The University Student Union, Inc. at California State University, Northridge has two locations, the University Student Union (USU) and the Satellite Student Union (SSU). Each facility was designed to enhance the total university experience through leadership opportunities, events, and various services. Subway, Pub Sports Grill, and The Freudian Sip are located here too! On Campus Dining
Hungry? Look no further than the CSUN campus. There are places to eat and drink at both ends of campus and everywhere in between. Located in the Sierra Center, the Marketplace has an array of meal choices including pasta, pizza, sandwiches, salads, sushi and much more. In the Satellite Student Union (SSU), located in Campus Housing, you will find Geronimo's which is open seven days a week, all year round. In the University Student Union (USU) is the Pub Sports Grill where you can enjoy both a meal and maybe a game or two. Subway is located in the USU too. The Matador Bookstore complex houses Burger King, Kikka Sushi, Rice Garden Chinese Cookery, Burrito Northridge, South Side Pizza, and Jamba Juice. In need of caffeine? The Freudian Sip has three locations on campus; adjoining The Marketplace, The University Student Union, and the Matador Bookstore. There are also Convenience stores in various locations on campus. Associated Students
The office of the Associated Students, Inc (AS) is located in the USU across from the Mercantile Exchange. AS provides leadership opportunities through student government, special programming, and student clubs and organizations. AS also offers many services for students and staff including AS Recreation Sports, Children's Center, Health Insurance, Recycling Program, and the Ticket Office. Clubs and Organization
At Cal State Northridge students can join more than 250 clubs and organizations of all kinds: pre-professional college based (such as CSUN National Student Speech, Hearing , Language Association, Multicultural Psychology Association, and Construction Management Association of America), cultural (MEChA and the Armenian Student Association), religious (such as Chabad Jewish Student Center and the Get Real, Sikh Awareness Association), special interest (such as Deaf CSUNians, CSUN Cat People and CSUN Co-Op Network, CSUN Anime, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Alliance), honorary (such as National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Tau Beta Pi [National Engineering Honorary]) recreational (Water-ski and Wake Board, Matadancer Hip Hop Team) and university programs (such as CSUN Helpline, Women's Resource Center). Intramural Sports
The Cal State Northridge Intramural Program has sports leagues for all skill levels- novice to elite. All students are welcome and encouraged to come out and participate. We have many leagues to join which include; men's, women's, co-ed, fraternity, sorority and clubs & organizations. The following sports are currently available: Basketball, Dodgeball, Flag Football, Soccer, Softball, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball and Water Polo. Volunteer Involvement
Do you want to change your life? Do you want to change the lives of others? Community service and volunteerism offers you a way to do both. Through consistent volunteering, you can build your resume, establish a local network, learn new skills, expand existing skills and help make the community around you a better place. Most agencies don't require a huge commitment of time; they just want to know when you are coming, how long you intend to stick around and what you want to get out of your time with them. Leadership Institute
The Leadership Institute is a comprehensive certificate program held each semester and consists of 20 workshops (30 contact hours) focusing on individual development, organizations & community, and diversity. You will work closely with high caliber faculty, staff, alumni, and community members to complete your certificate. The Institute includes a personal assessment of your leadership skills and a strong focus on personal reflection as a tool for your growth and development. In addition, you will participate in a group community service project. Students who wish to not enroll in the certificate program may still attend workshops at their leisure. Study Abroad
Whether you want to cross oceans or study a bit closer to home, CSUN's Study Abroad Program is a perfect fit. Thinking about going global? The International Programs (IP) is perfect for you. IP is the system-wide overseas study program of the CSU. It enables CSU students to pursue academic and career enhancing studies abroad. IP is affiliated with over 70 distinguished universities and other institutions of higher education in 17 countries where participants pursue course work for CSU resident credit. If you are looking to study closer to home, try the National Student Exchange (NSE). NSE is a program for undergraduate exchange within the United States and Canada. Parking
The goal of Parking is to provide the best in customer service to our campus communities. A valid CSUN Parking Permit is required at all times when parking on our campus; 24/7.Daily Parking Permits are available from parking permit dispensers located in lots B1, B5 Parking Structure, B6, E6, G3, G4, Parking Structure G9 or at any one of our Information Booths located at Nordhoff and Lindley, Prairie and Darby and the Northwest section on Lot G4.
Semester and annual parking permits may be purchased at University Cash Services located in the Student Services Building or the Parking office located in Building #14 (Rose Crown Hall), enter Lot G7 for metered parking. For more information please visit us at http://www-admn.csun.edu/parking/
Public Safety
The University Police Department, a Division of the Department of Public Safety, provides 24-hour patrol of the university property, buildings, parking lots and housing facilities. All laws and codes of the State are enforced on the campus including regulations the university establishes to administer the campus community. The university also provides students with a security escort for those that prefer to be accompanied by someone to their next class or to their car at night time.
