What's a living learning community?

Living Learning and Themed Living communities bring together students with similar academic interests, personal passions and life experiences in a supportive, on-campus environment. Members of Living Learning and Themed Living communities enjoy many benefits, among them special group activities, extra academic support and their own advisors.

If you're a freshman, you'll have instant friends if you enroll in Freshman Year Experience, which is exclusively for students who are new to college life. Or, if you are super serious about your studies and want to surround yourself with like-minded friends, look into our community for honors students. Are you hearing impaired or interested in the deaf community? We have a community in which students communicate mostly in American Sign Language. We also have communities for students enrolled in specific colleges and departments: Engineering and Computer Science, Cinema and Television Arts, Kinesiology and Music.

If you join a Living Learning or Themed Living community (except for Freshman Year Experience), you'll live two to a bedroom in a two-bedroom apartment with a kitchen, living and dining areas, and a patio or balcony. Participants in Freshman Year Experience live in our brand new suites, two to a bedroom with access to a spacious lounge and quiet study area. The Community Center next door has pool tables, ping pong, movies, meeting spaces and comfortable seating to relax with friends.
