Emergency Preparedness Training

Is your home, office or school prepared for an emergency?

The CSUN Emergency Management department wants to assist all CSUN community members prepare as best as they can for disasters and other emergencies.  We offer customized training presentations to student, faculty, staff and affiliated community members upon request. CSUN Community:

Personal Emergency Preparedness — Do members of your family know the safest and most dangerous places in your home during a disaster or an emergency?  Do they know where to meet if they are separated?  Do they know how and when to evacuate?  Emergencies and disasters can strike quickly and without warning and in this session you will receive expert advise on how to prepare and respond in the event of an emergency. Do you have a financial emergency plan?  Contact the Emergency Manager at ext. 5973 to schedule one of these workshops or a personalized emergency preparedness workshop for your CSUN department or organization at your campus location or using the DPS training room (as available).

Earthquake Preparation, Response, & Recovery - We cannot stop an earthquake, but we can mitigate the impact that it will have on you and your family. Earthquakes strike quickly and without warning.  In this session you will receive advice on how to prepare and respond in the event of an earthquake.  You can cope by preparing in advance.  The safety and well -being of your loved ones is important, so take the time NOW to learn how to develop a family emergency plan, prepare emergency supplies and other valuable information to help you during and after an earthquake.  Register for our next workshop on October 17, 2019 here.

New Employee Orientation — What new employees need to know about the Department of Police Services and Emergency Preparedness to include emergency notification, personal preparedness, and 

Building Marshal Training - The Building Marshal Program is designed to provide recruiting, training, and coordination of volunteers in every major building on campus.  This training will provide emergency response procedures for some of the most common or likely critical incident emergency situations that may occur on campus.  The training is designed to enhance the chances of protecting yourself as well as assisting others in an emergency.  This training is for faculty and staff who are participants in the Building Marshal Program.  Register for new Building Marshal training here.

Department/College Emergency Action Plan (DEAP)— All CSUN departments must develop and maintain on an annual basis a Department Emergency Action Plan.  Workshops on developing your plan using the campus DEAP template are held each semester. Register for this workshop here.
