Student Staff Positions

Position: Building Manager

Position: AT Strength & Conditioning Student Assistant
Department: Sport Clubs, Athletic Training
Hours: Up to 20/hr/wk

Duties: Assisting the Athletic Training Staff, which includes but are not limited to weight room supervision, warm-ups, strength and speed training, conditioning, fitness assessments, and administrative tasks.

Position: Building Manager
Department: AS Sport Clubs
Hours: Up to 20/hr/wk

Duties: Report to the Building Manager supervisor, manage Sport Club practices and events, participants and facilities in use. Record and report any incidents.

Anticipated start date: August 20, 2016

An ideal candidate should have effective and efficient communication skills, good customer service delivery, time management, and be punctual. Current CPR/First Aid Certification Required.

Position: Producer
Department: AS Productions
Hours: Up to 20/hr/wk


  • Employees work both independently and as part of an assigned work team on major event creation, production and evaluation including, but not limited to, the following events: Big Show, Annual Comedy, Annual lecture event, Big Politics, Summer Movie Series (every Thursday afternoon/evening June through August), Squirrel Fest (week before finals each semester), We The People Fall political fair, Farmers Market, Earth Fair, AS Banquet
  • Event consultation/production for all A.S. departments
  • Attends weekly staff meeting (1.5 hours)
  • Attends weekly one-on-one (.5 hours)
  • Oversees budget related to programs as assigned Recruits, trains and works with a minimum of two volunteer assistants
  • Participates in leadership/skill trainings as assigned..

Department: AS Marketing - Support Services

Position:Graphic Artist II

Description: Under general supervision of Associated Students Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator, the Graphic Artist intern is responsible for briefing and providing art direction along with a range of design solutions for various AS projects and events; utilizing design software, office equipment and outsourced vendors to meet project deadlines.

Job Duties:

  • Provides creative design and art direction, typesetting and layout for brochures, newsletters, posters, flyers, banners, digital media, and other forms of advertising
  • Brief and update clients through design process of assigned projects.
  • Process work orders by accurately logging progress and time spent on projects.
  • Prepares charts, posters, signage and maps
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


  • Graphic design coursework (Completed or currently taking Art 244/243) or experience required.
  • Portfolio containing at least 5 compositions required.
  • Demonstrated ability to create effective, well organized design pieces
  • Thorough knowledge of design, pre-press and printing processes
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to proofread design work
  • Ability to work without immediate supervision
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
  • Macintosh experience required, experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and In Design desired.

Hours: 10-15 (unpaid)

Department: AS Marketing - Support Services

Position: Web Design Intern

Description: Under general supervision from the Marketing Coordinator, the Web Designer Intern is responsible for aiding in developing, designing, and maintaining the AS Web site; and for providing daily interaction and support for all marketing areas.

Job Duties:

  • Help in designing, maintaining and monitoring the AS Web site.
  • Analyzes and provides suggestions regarding page layouts.
  • Designs, edits, and enhances images suitable for publishing over the Internet
  • Creates PDF (Portable Document Format) for forms, documents and/or large publications
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


  • Must be a currently enrolled CSUN student
  • Some knowledge of Content Management System (CMS), Drupal and WordPress.
  • Some knowledge and ability in Web site and Graphic design
  • Some knowledge and ability to hand code HTML, and some knowledge of stet.
  • Some knowledge of CSS, Javascript, PHP, Python, and other programming languages strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of creating Web sites that pass W3 standards and ADA compliance strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of current browsers (Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari)
  • Proven knowledge and ability in the use of Apple and Windows PC platforms, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe
  • Leadership and organizational skills required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Willingness to work in a multicultural environment
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment
