Charles Reed, who led CSU as chancellor for 14 years, dies at 75

In 1998, Reed’s first year at CSU, the system had nearly 350,000 students. By his final year, 2012, the CSU system had more than 418,000 students enrolled. During the intervening years, the United States’ first Central American Studies program opened in 2000 at Cal State Northridge; seven Cal State campus inaugurate doctoral programs in education in 2007 and in 2008, the system created its Council on Ocean Affairs, Science and Technology, according to CSU.
