CSUN Guitarist, Juan Garcia, performs in the Marcin Dylla masterclassThe CSUN Classical Guitar Club

The CSUN Guitar club offers a forum for Guitar performance majors to perform for each other and in masterclasses.  The club meets weekly and regularly sponsors guest artists classes. Recent guest artists presnted include Paul O'Dette, Martha Masters, Marcin Dylla, and William Kanengeiser.

All BM and MM guitarists are invited to join and participate in enriching their performance studies at CSUN.

Music Therapy Association

Music Therapy logoThe purpose of the Music Therapy Association of Northridge is to promote an awareness of the music therapy profession on campus and on a community level and, to provide a forum to support the students of music therapy at CSUN. To this end, many of our members participate in community volunteer work with disabled youths and adults within a music therapy medium. The Music Therapy Association of Northridge represents the students of Northridge within the American Music Therapy Association and provides volunteers for national and regional conventions of this association. We are also active participants in the on-site CSUN Music Therapy Clinic which provides music therapy services for autistic, Down Syndrome, cerebal palsy, Williams Syndrome, or otherwise disabled children. All members of the Music Therapy Association of Northridge are dedicated to the CSUN Music Therapy program's high standards of excellence, achievement and creativity.

New Directions Composers Group

Founded in 1978, the New Directions Composers Group is an independent student organization focused on supporting the creation and performance of chamber and symphonic music compositions. With partial support from the university, each semester, this group of students has been organizing recitals of new works, as well as regular meetings between young composers, performers, and conductors. The activities and budget of the group are guided and supervised by the composition faculty in the Music Department.

Pi Kappa Lambda

Pi Kappa Lambda logoThe Society of Pi Kappa Lambda was founded on May 17, 1918 at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. It is the only nationally recognized college honor society in music and is distinct from social and professional fraternities. Chapters of the Society annually extend invitations for membership to the highest ranking students from junior, senior and graduate classes who also exhibit qualities of leadership, personal integrity and a superior level of musical attainment. The elections are the responsibility and privilege of the Pi Kappa Lambda Faculty of the Gamma Kappa Chapter which was established in May of 1971 at California State University Northridge. The society as a whole has more than 45,000 members. New members are invited for membership each spring and attend an initiation ceremony, recital and reception with faculty members.The insignia of the society is a gold key in the form of a Grecian lyre.  New members are presented with a certificate of membership as well as a key insignia of their choice in the form of a pin or pendant.
