Teaching Untethered

List of classrooms set up for teaching untethered.

Directions for teaching untethered with an iPad:

  1. On your iPad, go to Settings -> Wi-Fi and make sure you're signed into eduroam with your full CSUN email address ( ). If you're unsure, tap the blue 'i' icon and "Forget the network" and log back in.
  2. If necessary, restart the classroom desktop computer and log in. Check that the AirServer program is running and up to date -- look for it in Applications. If an update is necessary, call Classroom Technology (x1500) and request they update it when class is not in session.
  3. Wait up to five minutes for the AirPlay option to appear up on your iPad — it will pop up in your Control Panel. Select the correct room and then slide the Mirroring option to green. Call the Faculty Technology Center (x3443) if it takes longer than five minutes or if you encounter any other issues.

Troubleshooting:

Sometimes your iPad will stay connected to another access point nearby and it will unable to connect with the one in the classroom that allows it to communicate with AirServer. First, make sure AirServer is running on the classroom computer. If it is running, perform a "hard restart" on your iPad by holding down the home screen button and on/off button at the same time. Lastly, make sure you are signed on to the eduroam WiFi network with your full CSUN email address and password (do not use your portal name).
