Cello, Chamber Music, Music Entrepreneurship
Diane Roscetti, Professor of Cello in the Department of Music at California State University, Northridge, has served as CSUN Music Department Chair, as well as the Director of the School of Performing Arts, Division of Music and Theatre/Dance, at the University of Maine. Professor Roscetti has been involved in National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) as a presenter, a visiting evaluator and an elected official. She has also represented both UM and CSUN at National Association of Music Executives of State Universities (NAMESU), which designates one school from each state for attendance at its national conferences. She hosted the NAMESU conference in Maine in October of 2002, and representatives from forty-eight states were in attendance. She has also been actively involved in International Council of Fine Arts Deans (ICFAD). In 1996 she was nominated by the President of UM to represent the institution at a state-wide management institute for women.
A Colorado native, Professor Roscetti received her high school diploma from the Interlochen Arts Academy. She did her undergraduate work at Oberlin Conservatory of Music and her graduate work at New England Conservatory of Music and Northern Illinois University. She started a graduate string quartet/outreach program at UM that garnered national attention, with a recent quartet in that program being invited to perform for the panel of Chamber Music Society Two of Lincoln Center, and the Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition in Pasadena, CA. Professor Roscetti was on the summer 2007 faculty of the Beverly Hills International Music Festival, where she taught cello and chamber music as well as two seminars entitled “Empowered Entrepreneurship: How to Innovate, Create and Sustain A Career in Music.” She has also been on the faculty of the Algonquin International Music Institute in Canada (now called Aria International Institute) and the Young Musicians Program at Kneisel Hall in Blue Hill, Maine. She has been an Artist-in-Residence at the Windermere Concert Series at Lake Muskoka, Canada, and at the Silver Bay Summer Music Festival in Lake George, NY. She has performed on National Public Radio, CBS national television, and Maine Public Television and Radio. She has been a guest artist with the Bay Chamber Concert Series, the Arcady Music Festival, the Portland and Laurentian string quartets, and the Bar Harbor Music Festival. Professor Roscetti has served as musical advisor to the Board of Directors for the Farnsworth Museum Concert Series in Rockland, Maine. She currently is involved with the Arts Entrepreneurship Educators National Network and teaches an experimental topics course she designed at CSUN called Music Entrepreneurship.
