Mary Reale studied double bass performance at the USC School of Music where she later served as the Director of Public Information for more than a dozen years. Among her USC favorite projects were: Music Education outreach including five Grammy in the Schools Career Days; several Grammy Music Festivals; she brought Alexander Bernstein and the Bernstein Education through the Arts to USC. She served as producer of Górecki Autumn which Mark Swed, Music Critic of the Los Angeles Times, proclaimed the Performing Arts event of 1997; other productions included the Lynn Harrell and the USC Symphony, Daniel Lewis, conductor, tour to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Additionally, Mary created and produced the School’s weekly, live broadcast “Music from USC on KUSC” sponsored by the Xerox Corporation.

She received numerous awards during her USC tenure including a Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Gold Medal for Recruitment Materials, a USC Friends of Music Service Award and a Special Dean’s Commendation for “her extraordinary dedication and contribution to the USC School of Music.” Mary left USC to accept a music education production position with film composer, Michael Kamen.

As a double bassist, Mary also studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. This year marks her 26th season as a tenured member of the Pasadena Symphony. She toured with the Roger Wagner Chorale and has performed with the Nova Harpsichord Quintet, Nova Orchestra, Santa Monica Symphony, Santa Maria Symphony, Valley Symphony conducted by Elmer Bernstein, the Cota Symphony, Angeles Chorale, and California Musical Theatre.

Mary has produced several Equity and Equity-waiver theatre productions including Another Part of the Forest and Looking Glass. Ultimately, she joined forces with actor Lane Davies to produce classical theatre at the Globe Playhouse including Hamlet and Cyrano de Bergerac.

Her husband, Joe, is a retired stage and television actor. They live in their empty nest with Jack the Dog and enjoy frequent visits with their three kids, son-in-law and their two beautiful grandchildren.
