Choral Ensembles
An advanced SATB ensemble of 50 singers made up of the departments vocal majors. This ensemble has long been recognized as one of the state's finest. Activities for the 97-98 school include performances in Honolulu, Hawaii (May 98). Literature performed represents the finest composed with special emphasis on a "a cappella" forms. Membership based on audition.
The oldest of the campus ensembles, this ensemble is designed for the non-voice major. Students in this ensemble represent various areas of the music department, as well as students from other disciplines on the university campus. Music includes a variety of styles including sacred, folk, musical theater. A major work with orchestra is scheduled for performance at least once a year.
A select ensemble that specializes in jazz and jazz related forms. Students in this area are exposed to performance practices used in studio and recording setting. Performances include appearances at local and state Jazz Festivals. Ensemble enrollment is open to all students campus wide.
The CSU Northridge's Women's Chorale performs a wide variety of music, from medieval to modern experimental music, Western art music and works from the evolving multicultural canon.
NORTHRIDGE SINGERS

The Northridge Singers is an advanced ensemble which represents California State University Northridge in major choral festivals and competitions, both regionally and nationally. This ensemble is designed for voice majors and students with advanced vocal experience. They study musical styles and rehearsal techniques through the performance of choral literature. The singers have participated in international tours which have included Russia and Europe. Students participating in this ensemble have gone on to a variety of careers including solo, music administration, condicting, and teaching. Recognized as one of the region's top college ensembles, this group continues the tradition of excellence long associated with the CSUN Music Department.
