Photo of David HooverFor thirty years, David Hoover has been an active performer, conductor, composer, arranger, and writer on music. He has appeared in the U.S., Europe, and Australia as a performer and conductor with numerous orchestras and ensembles, as a recitalist, and on recordings, film soundtracks, and radio broadcasts.

Dr. Hoover regularly performs his own compositions at home and abroad, and he has written a modern horn method. His articles on the horn and other musical topics have appeared in the Instrumentalist magazine and other periodicals, and he has authored various publications such as Building a Better Horn Section, a booklet for public school music teachers. As a specialist in early horn performance, he has written A Modern Horn Player's Introduction to the Natural Horn, as well as his own compositions for the ancient instrument.

His students are regular winners of prestigious competitions, and their names appear on the rosters of major orchestras around the world. He is an active adjudicator and clinician, and he is regularly invited to speak at state music teacher conventions across the country on the topic of developing young horn players.

Dr. Hoover has served on the faculty of CSUN since 1988 and has also served on the faculties of Glendale Community College, the Idyllwild Arts Summer Festival, the Los Angeles City Schools, Los Angeles Pierce College, Moorpark College, and the University of Southern California, having also earned the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts at USC.
