NEW ADDITIONS

DAREK OLES - Jazz Bass
Aside from his teaching duties, Darek Oleszkiewicz has been very active as a performer and became
one of the most sought after bass players on the West Coast. "Oles" (his American nick-name) had
the opportunity to perform and record with the greatest masters in jazz. A partial list of his
collaborations include: Brad Mehldau, Billy Higgins, Pat Metheny, Joe Lovano, Eddie Henderson,
Charles Lloyd, John Abercrombie, Bennie Maupin, Lee Konitz, Peter Erskine, Alan Pasqua, Bennie
Wallace, Victor Lewis, Harvey Mason, Dave Grusin, Art Farmer, Horace Silver, Alice Coltrane,
Ravi Coltrane, James Newton, Arthur Blythe, Lew Tabackin, Steve Kuhn, Gary Smulyan,
Ronnie Cuber, Billy Hart, Kevin Hays, Munyungo Jackon, Steve Hass, Toshiko Akiyoshi,
Marian McPartland, Janis Siegel, Bob Brookmeyer, Curtis Fuller, Roy McCurdy, Tom Harrell,

HOWIE SHEAR - Jazz Trumpet
Howie Shear received a Bachelors in Education from Fredonia State University in 1975 and a Masters
in Jazz Studies from the Eastman School of Music in 1977. He studied with James F. Burke
and Raymond Crisara. Howie toured with the Woody Herman Band as lead trumpet player & featured
soloist in 1980. After the tour he moved to Los Angeles and worked as a studio musician and soloist.
Among the extensive list of artists he has worked with are: The Chuck Mangione Orchestra,
Tony Bennett, George Benson, Mel Torme, Reno Jones, The Temptations, and The Spinners. He
was the musical arranger and lead trumpet player on the Joan Rivers Late Night Show. Howie has
also played various shows at the Ahmanson Theater and many jazz festivals around the world where
he has held trumpet clinics. Arranger and producer of various jazz albums, Howie currently
has his own jazz quartet. His classical work includes playing with brass quintets and choirs,
solo church work, and solo work in the studios.

He received his Doctorate in Music from the University of Southern California in 2002.

BOB McCHESNEY - Jazz Trombone
Conn-Selmer Artist Bob McChesney was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and began studying
the trombone at the age of nine. McChesney holds a bachelor's Degree from the State University
of New York at Fredonia. In 1979, Bob moved to Los Angeles where he remains, working as a studio
musician and in a wide variety of musical situations including film, television, records, jingles
and can be heard on recent CD recordings by Ray Charles - his Grammy Album of the Year 2005
"Genius Loves Company", Grammy 2000 winner Diana Krall - "When I Look In Your Eyes",
Michael Bolton ("Bolton Swings Sinatra" and soloist on "Michael Bolton Christmas"),
