Daisy Lemus received her B.A. in Communication with a minor in Cinema/Television from the University of Southern California in 2000. She completed her M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB).

Daisy discovered her love of teaching while in graduate school. As a teaching assistant at UCSB, she was mentored by experienced scholars who provided her with great examples of ethical, conscientious, and benevolent professors. At CSUN, Daisy teaches undergraduate courses in organizational communication, communication research methodology, group communication, communication and technology, and communication theory. At the graduate level, Daisy has taught seminars in organizational communication research, group communication, communication and technology, and interpersonal communication.  In 2007, Daisy was granted the Polished Apple Award, a teaching award granted by the University Ambassadors Program.

Daisy’s current research explores communication processes during retirement planning. Her research interest in organizational communication, however, extends to the areas of group communication and technology, organizational change, group argument, and the use of mixed methods in organizational communication research. She has collaborated with multiple scholars in various areas of communication and her work has been published in Human Communication Research, Journal of Communication, and Communication Yearbook. Additionally, she participates in the annual conferences of the International Communication Association (ICA), National Communication Association (NCA), Western States Communication Association (WSCA), and The Academy of Management (AOM).

Raised in Los Angeles, Daisy attended various public schools in Koreatown, Eagle Rock, and the San Fernando Valley. She has participated in Los Angeles-based organizations such as The Innercity Filmmakers, The Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission, and USC’s Nuestra Alma Latina. She helped students resurrect the CSUN Communication Association, an organization for students interested in learning more about communication-related careers and getting involved in the activities of the Department.
