In 2001, Tom Golden donated his collection of over 100 works by renowned artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude to the Sonoma County Museum, which is currently circulating this exhibition. Golden’s personal and professional relationship with the artists began when he met them during the 1974 public hearings for their project Running Fence. He continued to manage and assist with several of the artist’s large scale projects such as The Umbrellas (Japan, United States) and Over the River (Arkansas). This remarkable collection which includes collages, prints, photographs and objects reflects his friendship with and admiration of these remarkable artists and captures the versatility, longevity and international scope of Christo and Jeanne-Claude.
