ALEKS



A requirement for entrance into the CSU is completion of Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II.  Students who would benefit from a review of basic algebra are encouraged to enroll in Math 102 or to purchase ALEKS before enrolling in Math 210 or Math 310.  ALEKS is a self-paced, computer tutoring program that reviews and provides practice in basic algebra.  If you would like to purchase access to ALEKS, follow the steps below.


Purchasing and Registering with ALEKS


To purchase an access code for ALEKS online:


1. Type in the URL: www.aleks.csumathsuccess.org

2. You will be taken through the following screens in order to purchase ALEKS.

a. ALEKS 'Welcome CSU students' screen.  Click on 'Purchase ALEKS now.'

 b. Choose which subject you want to buy: click on 'ALEKS for Math and Statistics, One Semester'.  Then click on 'Click here to purchase ALEKS'.

c. On the next screen, click the radio button for 'CALIF STATE U-NORTHRIDGE'.  Then scroll down and click on 'next'.

d. Click on 'ALEKS for California State University System for $35.00.'

e. Step d brings you to the McGraw Hill online education store. In the top section fill in the required information: name, address, telephone, email.  In the bottom section fill in the payment method and expiration date of your credit card. Then click on 'Buy Now'.

 
STOP AT THIS POINT AND LOG OFF THE INTERNET


Go into your email account.  You will receive an email message containing the required 20-digit number needed to access ALEKS.  The email should arrive within a few days.  Once you get the code follow the steps below to register:

1.  Go the the ALEKS website:

   http://www.aleks.com

For your convenience, put a 'Bookmark' or 'Favorite' at this location.  This is the site where you will log into your account.


2.  Click on the link marked 'SIGN UP NOW' in the upper left-hand corner of the page.


3.  On the page that follows, enter the appropriate 10-character Course Code for the level of math that you will be studying:

   Math 210 Level 1:   EKKPD-RN9VU
   Math 310 Level 2:   NPRKE-K36TM


Click 'Continue.'  On the page that follows, check to be sure you are in the right class.  Then, click 'Continue.'

4.  Enter the 20-character Access Code that you obtained from the CSU Math Success website, then click 'Continue.'

5.  On the page that follows, enter the required personal information.  Then scroll down and click your acceptance of the ALEKS Usage Agreement, then click 'Continue.'

6.  If you wish to change your password, enter it twice in the boxes provided, then click 'Continue.'  Be sure to write down your ALEKS Login Name and Password and to keep them safe.

7. On the next page, read the text and click 'Continue'.  If you do not have a current plugin, one will be installed at this point.  Please follow instructions and do not interrupt the process until you get the message that installation is complete.  When you are asked for permission, please grant permission.  This is a safe operation.  When installation is complete, close all windows of your web browser, return to the ALEKS website and log on, using your ALEKS Login Name and Password.

8.  Follow the on-screen instructions to begin using your ALEKS account.
