Of course! One of the main goals of the Matabots is to continuously learn and teach. Therefore, we do not require any knowledge in robotics. Passion is all you need to start learning and making awesome robots.
We, the CSUN Matabots would never charge any school for mentorship or robotics workshops. We, as a university club, strive to teach and mentor students of all grade levels. The CSUN Matabots, however, do appreciate any donations to the club.
That would have to depend on the availability of our members, transportation issues, and the days we can hold said assembly/workshop. We are, however, flexible in our scheduling. We also have a small curriculum that lasts approximately 5 weeks.
If it is a one-time workshop, then the approximate time to introduce the students to Vex, engineering/science/math/technology, and the field of robotics would be approximately 2-3 hours.
It may have to be after school, because this would also tie into the times when our members have classes. In previous experiences, after school/evening times would work the best. Weekends are also generally open for most of our members.
VEX robotics is appropriate for middle-school, high school and university students, where the Vex IQ system is more age appropriate for elementary school level students. In the past we have worked with middle school students and are experienced in handling both Vex Robotics, and Vex IQ.
