valley view tv

Students in the television broadcast curriculum produce three weekly news programs which are seen throughout the Los Angeles area on the LA City Cable Channel, and various other cable systems.

Valley View News is a half-hour weekly newscast, featuring student-produced video reports on a variety of topics.

On Point is a 30 minute live discussion program, produced and hosted by students, focusing on issues relating to the CSUN campus and Los Angeles Area.

Noticias del Valle is a Spanish language newscast produced by students from the Journalism Department.

Broadcast students receive a broad based education in basic news reporting and on air presentation. They cover breaking stories and hard news and report the actions of government agencies. The practical experience and industry skills gained through participation in Valley View are comparable to an entry level professional position. Students rotate through various assignments and responsibilities throughout the semester, gaining the versatility needed to prepare for a television news career.

Since its inception, Valley View has received more than 55 awards from prestigious organizations such as the Society of Professional Journalists, the Associated Press, the California Intercollegiate Press Association, American Women in Radio and Television, the William Randolph Hearst Foundation and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
