A film by Israeli director Eran Riklis
A Palestinian widow stands up against her new neighbor, the Israeli Defense Minister, when he decides that her lemon grove poses a risk to his safety and must be uprooted. With a young Palestinian lawyer, she takes her case all the way up to the Israeli Supreme Court. Her courage earns her the sympathy of the Defense Minister’s wife, challenges the conservative social values of Palestinian society, and exposes the complex relations between Israelis and Palestinians today.

This is a humorous and eye-opening documentary of entertainment pioneer Gertrude Berg. She was the creator, principal writer, and star of The Goldbergs, a popular radio show about a Jewish family living in New York City which became television’s very first character-driven domestic sitcom in 1949. This documentary illustrates the creation of the shows and the challenges of creating comedy during the war years and the McCarthy era.
