Media Equipment Operator Instructions
To Use Podium PC ---
Turn data projector ON by pressing the “PROJ ON”
button on the lighted control panel at the top of the podium. Hit “PC”
button
on control panel. Observe picture on flat panel display on podium.
Using the
keyboard and mouse on the podium, log in to the computer using the same
login
and password as your campus email account. PLEASE
LOG OUT WHEN YOU ARE DONE!!! If someone leaves before logging
out, the
next person will need to turn the computer OFF, then back ON to log in,
wasting
2-3 minutes. To turn the computer OFF, hold down the power button on
the front
of the computer in the podium for 4-5 seconds. Then wait for 5-10
seconds and
press the power button again to turn the computer back ON.
To Use Your Own
Laptop ---
Turn data projector ON by pressing the “PROJ ON”
button on the lighted control panel at the top of the podium. Plug your
laptop
into the AC outlet on the top of the podium. The VGA connector and the
mini
audio connector and the Internet connection are all on wires coming out
of the
podium, at the top, near the center portion of the desktop. Hook up
desired
connectors to your laptop and press the appropriate FUNCTION key to
send your
laptop’s video signal to the external connector and the data projector.
The
proper FUNCTION key is sometimes labeled LCD/CRT or may have a picture
of a
square with vertical lines or either side. The proper FUNCTION key will
typically cycle between showing a picture on the laptop screen only,
then the
data projector only, then both the laptop screen AND the data
projector, then
back to just the laptop screen only.
To Watch VCR/UVN ---
Turn data projector ON by pressing the “PROJ ON”
button on the lighted control panel at the top of the podium. To turn
the VCR
power ON, press the DVD Combo Power button on the control panel. Press
the VCR
button on the DVD & VCR control panel, next to the lighted control
panel.
Use the UP/DOWN buttons on the DVD & VCR control panel to change
channels.
Insert tape, if desired, into the VCR and hit PLAY on the control panel.
To Watch DVD ---
Turn data projector ON by pressing the “PROJ ON”
button on the lighted control panel at the top of the podium. To turn
the DVD
ON, hit the DVD Combo Power button on the control panel. Hit the DVD
button on
the DVD & VCR control panel, located next to the lighted control
panel.
Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on DVD’s front panel to open tray. Drop DVD
into
tray and gently close tray. USE UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT buttons on the DVD
& VCR
control panel on podium to navigate the menu functions of your DVD. Hit
ENTER
on DVD & VCR control panel to select desired feature. Use DVD &
VCR
control panel buttons to control STOP, PAUSE, ETC.
To Watch Document
Camera ---
Turn data projector ON by pressing the “PROJ ON”
button on the lighted control panel at the top of the podium. Turn
document
camera (Elmo) ON, the switch is on the writing surface, near the upper
right
corner. The fluorescent light will take 10-20 seconds to come on. Push
“DOC
CAM” on the lighted control panel. Zoom by turning the ZOOM wheel
clockwise and
counter clockwise to increase and decrease zoom. Hit the AF button in
the
middle of the ZOOM control to auto-focus on your document.
