Q: What equipment is available in the classroom?

A: Since this can vary from classroom to classroom, please refer to Media Equipment in Classrooms locater page

Q: Can students check out equipment?

A: Students can only check out equipment if their faculty member authorizes them to do so by contacting Media Services. Students can only check out equipment for use by faculty members.

Q: How do I find out if a classroom is available for usage?

A: Please contact Room Reservation at: (818) 677–3283.

Q: Is there a charge for setting up a public address system?

A: Media Services offers this service without charge to faculty and staff for university business and charges auxiliary units for this service.

Q: Is there a cost to rent Media Services´ equipment?

A: There are no charges to faculty and staff to rent media equipment for university business, but auxiliaries are charged for this service.

Q: How much does it cost to repair equipment?

A: Media Services does not charge for labor on equipment repairs, only for the costs of parts. Faculty and staff can submit a chargeback request through SOLAR Financials. If you need assistance submitting a chargeback request, please review the Chargeback User Guide, or call (818) 677–1000 if you need assistance with SOLAR Financials.

Q: How much does it cost for the post production services such as duplicating, editing or converting video recordings?

A: A price list (link to it) is available to provide you with the price for most of our services, but there are many times that we will need to speak with you to understand your requirements before we can accurately quote you a price. If the information you need is not available on the price list, please feel free to call us at (818) 677–3592.

Q: Do you offer any training on media equipment?

A: Yes, we offer training in four different areas:

  • Individual training on equipment usage
  • Running presentation equipment and media control systems for faculty and staff in classrooms and campus´ large lecture halls
  • Training in using the Smart Classroom media equipment
  • Training faculty on presentation equipment for classrooms and lecture halls To request training, feel free to call us at (818) 677–3062.

Q: What are Media Services´ hours of operation?

A: For different services, there are different hours:

  • Media Equipment Checkout:M – Th: 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Fri. 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Video Studio: M – Th: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Fri. 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Media Repair: M – Th: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., Fri. 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
