The Outstanding Information Technology Student Employee Award was established to recognize and reward students who work in IT and have demonstrated an outstanding level of service during their work experience. This year, two students were nominated by their supervisors, Dorothy Ramirez, Classroom & Media Services and Deone Zell, Associate VP for Academic Technology. The awards went to:

  • Nairee Bedikian (Academic Technology)
  • Erica Garcia (Classroom & Media Services)

Nairee helped develop and guide a team of student ambassadors to assist with the launch of Portfolium, the campus’s new ePortfolio service for students, faculty and staff. Her role is to work with her team of ambassadors to visit and demonstrate the service to all areas of campus including the Career Center, classes, special events, clubs, the Library and alumni meetings. Nairee’s team has also been instrumental in launching and managing the monthly Challenges for students, whereby students compete for prizes and recognition by creating ePortfolio entries around themes such as entrepreneurship and community service. In the future she will manage an expanding team of Portfolium ambassadors to increase representation and adoption at each college.

Erica is majoring in Linguistics and Deaf Studies. Her career goal is to develop language and teaching software. While working for Classroom and Media Services, Erica's troubleshooting skills are put to work as she assists faculty and staff with audio/visual equipment both over the phone and in person. Erica is also responsible for training faculty on how to use media equipment in all of the classrooms and lecture halls on campus.

Both Nairee and Erica greatly illustrate exemplary qualities that best reflect our mission to support CSUN students, faculty and staff achieve their goals.

Thank you to all of the students who applied.
