In order to stabilize our existing email environment, we are moving forward with our plans to migrate all CSUN faculty and staff to Microsoft's cloud-based email, Office 365. In addition to providing a more stable faculty/staff email environment, Office 365 offers an enhanced interface for Webmail users, especially for Mac users.
The IT division migrated to Office 365 last fall as early adopters to test the migration process and email environment. We are beginning to migrate the other divisions and anticipate completing all staff and administrator email migrations in early summer. Faculty email will be migrated to Office 365 starting Tuesday, May 27. The full migration of all faculty email accounts will take several weeks; as a result, faculty email accounts may not get migrated until later in June or July. Faculty and staff will receive a reminder email notification from the IT Help Center a week prior to their actual email migration.
The migration to Office 365 takes place behind the scenes with no downtime. Once an email account is migrated, Outlook users will be prompted to restart email and users on other email clients (e.g. Thunderbird and Mac Mail) and mobile devices will need to adjust their email settings.
