Web Migration: Content Review

Before You Begin

Content Protection (.htaccess)

Content owners who use .htaccess to control who can access their content need to update these files. To do so, visit the Web Migration: Instructions for .htaccess page.

Instructions

You can access the new "webdrive" through any of the following possible options:

  • If you previously mapped to the "udrive", you will need to access the new "webdrive". Your technical representative may have already mapped this drive on your computer for you. If not, you will need to map this drive to your computer. Visit http://www.csun.edu/it/training/guides/webdrive.html for mapping instructions. If you need further assistance with this step, please contact your local technical support representative, or the IT Help Center.
  • If you previously accessed your public_html in the "udrive" via FTP or SSH, you will find a new link in your home directory at the same level of your public_html directory named "webdrive". Accessing this link will lead you into the content on the new environment.
  • If you previously mapped the "udrive" from a UNIX system, you connected through "csun1". For UNIX users, IT has added the prefix "~/webdrive". Instead of updating to "~/public_html, you will update to "~/webdrive/public_html".
  • Review all your pages to make sure they are rendering properly in the new environment.
    1. Verify that all links on your pages are working correctly. Please pay special attention to links that directly reference the "udrive". Since the new environment uses a different drive, these links need to reference "webdrive".
    2. Be aware of links you may have in other systems that reference your content, such as faculty LMS pages.
    3. If everything is working correctly on the new environment, you are finished!
    4. If you have found any errors during your review, and need assistance fixing them, contact the IT Help Center at (818) 677-1400 or email helpcenter@csun.edu.

    Faculty

    • Faculty using Contribute to edit their web content will need to change their local settings from "U:\public_html\" to "W:\public_html". To learn more about modifying your settings in Contribute, visit ATI's "Web Editing for Faculty - Contribute" document.
    • Faculty using Dreamweaver to edit their web content should refer to ATI's "Web Editing For Faculty - Dreamweaver" for questions about their settings.

Faculty can also contact their technical support representative for further assistance with accessing the new environment.

    Students

Student web content previously residing on "udrive" was automatically copied to the new environment on May 23rd. Students with questions about this change should contact the IT Help Center.

Students who need assistance mapping the new "webdrive" can visit http://www.csun.edu/it/training/guides/webdrive.html.
