Faculty Moodle Help - What is the Restrict Access section for?
The Restrict Access section appears at the bottom of each resource and activity settings page. This feature allows a teacher to restrict access to a resource or activity based on a student completing certain criteria for a previous activity. (Ex: Students cannot submit Assignment #2 until they have completed Assignment #1.)
Restrict Access is different than an open and due date though. Teachers should not use the Restrict Access section as open and due dates for assignments. Instead they should use the default open and due dates sections available in Moodle assignments. Please review the Assignment creation and/or Turnitin assignment creation guides for more information on where the open and due date sections are located.
If you are interested in using Restrict Access on resources and activities in your course, we recommend visiting our office in OV 34 to get a quick tutorial on proper set up.
