The new Academic Technology department brings together the Office of Online Instruction, the Accessible Technology Initiative coordination, Media Services, and Classroom Technology. Our purpose is to provide a wide range of applications and services teaching and learning mission in the classroom and online. These services include assisting faculty in redesigning courses for online and hybrid learning; working with faculty and staff to create accessible websites and learning materials; and designing and creating engaging physical and virtual learning environments. Among the applications supported by Academic Technology are the learning management system (WebCT), web conferencing (Elluminate), video production, video streaming, and smart classrooms.

Computer Scientists to Congress: Don't Tell Colleges to Install Filters on Networks
A group of computer scientists in academe, industry, and government is urging some members of the Senate and House of Representatives to oppose legislation that would encourage or require colleges to install network filters to inhibit illegal sharing of music and video files.
