Classroom Technology and Support

Smart Classroom Equipment Support

Our smart classrooms all contain a data projector, screen, a DVD/VHS player, speakers, connections for a laptop computer, and internet connection. Other equipment in some smart classrooms includes installed computers, motorized screens, document cameras, and interactive whiteboards (“smart” boards). We currently have 153 smart classrooms on campus, representing 70% of our classrooms. For a complete listing of technology in classrooms please see http://www.csun.edu/it/services/media/mediservequimain.html.

University Video Network (UVN)

UVN is the university’s television cable system. Almost all classrooms are connected to UVN. Through UVN faculty can have videos, including all those in the library’s extensive collection played in their classroom. Once the video viewing is scheduled through the library the faculty member can control the video from the classroom telephone.

Student Response Systems ("Clickers")

Clickers are used to foster interaction with students in the classroom. Students use response pads to reply to faculty questions. Results are recorded in a "grade book" and can be displayed by the instructor in real time.
