Do You Have Your New Version of I-20?

April 12, 2016

Effective June 26, 2015, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security introduced a new redesigned format of the Form I-20.

All CSUN F-1 students and their dependents will be required to have a new version of the form by July 1, 2016. Some notable changes you will find on the redesigned Form I-20 include:

  • A more visible SEVIS ID number, school and program of study for the student
  • A better separation of the student’s information from the dependent(s) information
  • General design improvements that include moving the instructions to the third page of the Form I-¬20, as well as the removal of the barcode, and the blocks for visa and port of entry information

Currently, the new I-20 is not required for travel or at local California Social Security or Department of Motor Vehicles offices. However, it may become required in the near future and for travel after July 1, 2016. If you do not have the new I-20, you may be denied entry after this time.
