6 STEP IMMIGRATION REQUIREMENTS FOR F1 STUDENTS — Fall 2013


Congratulations on your admission to California State University, Northridge (CSUN)! The IESC staff is looking forward to meeting you upon your arrival to our campus. All of our F1 students are required to complete the 6-STEP Immigration Requirements once they are admitted to our university. To begin, please read below.

PLEASE COMPLETE STEPS 1-4 PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL TO THE U.S.
STEP 1 ACTIVATE YOUR CSUN ACCOUNT
  1. Locate the "Activate CSUN User ID and Password" letter sent to you by the Office of Admissions and Records. The "Activate CSUN User ID and Password" letter contains your CSUN User ID and Initial Password.
  2. Visit the CSUN Login page, and enter your User ID and Initial Password.
  3. Follow the subsequent instructions to activate your User ID and Password.

STEP 2 ONLINE IMMIGRATION SESSION Please enroll in this course through Moodle. Enter the enrollment key: fall2013

Student must complete all of the following tasks through the Moodle course:

  • Read the PowerPoint
  • Take the Quiz
  • Print the Certificate of Completion
  • Take the Survey
STEP 3 RELEASE OF SEVIS RECORD TO CSUN
Applies only to students who are already in the U.S. with an I-20 from a previous school.

Please skip to STEP 4 if CSUN is the first school that you are attending as an F1 student in the United States. 		TRANSFER-IN DEADLINE: August 16, 2013
(CSUN must have your SEVIS record by this date.)
STEP 4 Email your Proof of Health Insurance to insurance@csun.edu. Students cannot register for classes until the Foreign Hold has been removed. Click here for health insurance requirements and the removal of the foreign hold.
PLEASE COMPLETE STEPS 5 & 6 UPON YOUR ARRIVAL TO THE U.S.
All fall 2013 admits are required to enter the U.S. by August 19, 2013.
STEP 5 MANDATORY NEW STUDENT CHECK-IN
Submit copies of the following immigration documents to a Foreign Student Advisor:

  • Passport
  • F1 Visa
  • CSUN I-20 Page 1
  • CSUN I-20 Page 2
  • Previous school's I-20 (only if you are transferring your SEVIS record to CSUN)
  • I-94 Card (front side)
  • I-94 Card (back side)
  • Certificate of Completion (from STEP 2)
  • International Student Financial Acknowledgement
 Upon your arrival to the U.S., please check-in IN PERSON with your immigration documents. You will meet with a Foreign Student Advisor. Once you check-in, we can notify immigration of your attendance at CSUN through SEVIS.

Failure to complete STEPS 1-5 may affect your eligibility to remain in correct F1 status.
STEP 6 Attend the International Student Orientation Orientation date: August 22, 2013
