China — Central China Normal University

Located at Wuhan City in Hubei Province, which is honored as the hub of Central China, the campus of Central China Normal University is beside the South Lake and sits on the graceful Gui zi Mountain. The coverage of the campus is over 67 hectares.

Central China Normal University is a comprehensive Normal University, which is under the direct control of the Ministry of Education. It is one of the key universities covered by national "211 project". Central China Normal University is an important base of the country to cultivate teachers for middle school or higher education and other advanced specialists.

With a long history, the university is origin from the Wenhua College, which was established as early as 1903. During its development of over one century, the university carries forward the essence of China's traditional culture and absorbs the excellent nutrition from exotic cultures. Until now, the university has cultivated nearly 1.2 million talents in different fields.

The university set 24 schools and more than 60 institutions or research centers. The total number of students on campus is more than thirty thousand among which the number of postgraduates is over nine thousand and that of overseas students is over one thousand.

Admissions procedures

Duration of exchange: Students may participate in the program for either one semester (fall or spring) or for one academic year.

Program Cost

  • Living expenses are approximately RMB8,000 per semester
  • The cost of study materials, such as books, is approximately RMB250 per semester

Accommodations

There are seven large dining halls on campus, serving over 200 types of delicious Chinese dishes and Western variety, in addition to specialized menus for vegetarians. A newly built dormitory building is also available. The dormitory includes the following: air conditioning, TV, Internet, private bathroom, telephone for prepaid phone cards, public kitchen and laundry room.

CCNU Cultural Street is lined with boutiques for shopping.

 Central China Normal University has authorized China University Application Centre (CUAC) which provides airport pick-up services for all international students.

Academic Information

Language of instruction: English and Chinese

Courses are offered in the following disciplines:

  • Chinese literature
  • Chinese culture

Credit and grading system: Any academic credits received during the course of the program may be transferred to CSUN as pre approved by the academic department. 24 credits are required each semester. Students may enroll in six additional elective credits.

Requirements and Application Information

  • Have a cumulative overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher;
  • The program is open to students from all class standings: freshman, sophomore, junior or senior.
