Dr. Beth CohenDr. Beth Cohen will be showing photo images that appeared in the early post-WWII press that captured the arrival of children in America who survived the Holocaust.  Using these as a starting point, Dr. Cohen will explore the early encounters between Americans and child survivors and the gap between what American Jewry promised and what child survivors desperately needed.

Her talk is based on her research for her forthcoming book, Child Holocaust Survivors: The Youngest Remnant and the American Experience (Rutgers University Press).

Beth Cohen (Ph.D. in Holocaust Studies) is the author of Case Closed: Holocaust Survivors in Postwar America.  She has contributed to many scholarly collections, consults regularly on Holocaust-related educational projects, and teaches in the CSUN Jewish Studies Program and History and Religious Studies Departments.
