Double feature film, Sister Wife and Wherever You Go

Sister Wife (documentary, 60 minutes in English and Hebrew, with subtitles)

This film provides a fascinating glimpse into the lives of a community of African-American immigrants who have lived in southern Israel since 1969 and who practice a form of Biblical Judaism that permits their men to marry up to seven women.  The film provides an inside view of the community, and it pays special attention to the dynamics within a single family when a young, second wife joins an already-established marriage.

Wherever You Go (dramatic short feature, 37 minutes, in Hebrew and Arabic, with subtitles)

Years after cutting herself off from her Ultra-Orthodox family, a young Israeli woman decides to drive from her home in southern Israel to attend her sister's wedding.  Along the way, she finds herself assisting a young Bedouin woman escape from an impending forced marriage.
