Did medieval Jews try to spread Judaism to others?  How were converts to Judaism treated?  What did medieval Jews do about Jews who abandoned Judaism?  How did Jews respond when apostates denounced the Jewish community to the authorities?  Prof. Holo will discuss what these issues tell us about medieval Jewish self-understanding. 

Dr. Holo is the Dean of the Los Angeles Campus and Associate Professor of Jewish History at Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion. Dr. Holo’s publications and lectures emphasize Medieval Jews of the Mediterranean.
