The causes and context of unaccompanied children migrating to the United States from Central America

Based on the latest (2014) data collected on unaccompanied Central American minors, this talk will focus on understanding the factors which are influencing this migration, such as, sending areas and communities (and concentration), homicide rates by municipal area, push factors and repatriation programs by each of the sending countries.  Information on the process these young migrants face when they arrive in the United States will also be addressed.​
