Dear Candidate for Graduation:

Commencement is a meaningful time for students and their families as it is the culminating event in the educational process. Attendance at several of last year's ceremonies substantially exceeded available seating and caused concerns about public safety and the university's ability to properly host its guests.  Changes have been made to this year's ceremonies in order to address these concerns and to ensure that our students and their families will be able to celebrate and enjoy the commencement experience.

This year the College of Humanities and the Michael D. Eisner College of Education will hold a joint ceremony on Thursday, May 22, 2014. The Commencement Ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. on the lawn of the Delmar T. Oviatt Library. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you, members of your family and close friends are required to possess tickets to gain admittance to the Oviatt Library Lawn venue. I recommend that you consult the 2014 Commencement Handbook or visit online at http://www.csun.edu/commencement/ for suggested arrival times, parking recommendations and other important information.

Candidates for graduation will be professionally photographed and individually recognized by having their name read as they cross the stage. University administrators will be present for congratulatory handshakes with all graduates.

A reception for the graduates of the College of Humanities will be held prior to the ceremony at approximately 5:00 p.m. on the south patio area of Bayramian Hall. Congratulations on achieving success in your academic career.

Sincerely,
Dr. Elizabeth A. Say, Dean
College of Humanities
