During the 2014-2015 academic year, Human Resources' Professional and Personal Development Program provided the campus with robust professional development programming for the year, emphasizing the campus's seven priorities.

Keynote Speakers

Human Resources brought two dynamic speakers to campus to further engage employees.

James Mapes Keynote Speaker

JAMES MAPES, a CSUN alum, and founder of Quantum Leap Thinking, Bridget Shulte Keynote Speakerchallenged his audience to practice "creative visualization," communicating a dynamic, clear and emotionally charged future vision with optimism and hope.

BRIDGET SCHULTE, author of "Overwhelmed: Work, Love, and Play When No One Has the Time" provided insight into various strategies employees can undertake to achieve a healthy and beneficial balance between work and life.

CSUN Shine From Within

The CSUN Shine from Within Program is an opportunity for highly motivated universityCSUN Shine From Within staff — with the support of their supervisors — to participate in a cross-divisional development cohort program. The program was developed as part of the university priority that focuses on employee success and was announced by President Dianne Harrison at the Staff Service Awards in Spring 2014 and her Convocation and Welcome Back address on August 21, 2014.    Learn More ...

The program's main goals are to help selected staff develop core competencies, develop a sense of connection and community with other units across campus, broaden understanding and knowledge about the university and other divisions, and invest participants more deeply in the mission of the university and its planning priorities.

CSUN Weekly

Partnering with Marketing and Communications, Human Resources encouraged employees to engage in HR and university sponsored events by weekly providing events for the "Focus on Faculty and Staff" section of CSUN Weekly.

The Postmortal

Common Read - "Postmortal" by Drew Magary

CSUN's 2014-2015 Freshman Common Read was "The Postmortal", a novel by Drew Magary. Human Resources encouraged faculty and staff to participate in the program by advertising it through both HR News and its' Common Signature.  Several HR staff members took part in the program and engaged students in discussions of the book.
