Housing Rates

In the sections below, you will find rates and room information for a specific period of time.

Spring 2015: January 16, 2015 to May 16, 2015

Listed below are charges and payment schedules for Student Housing. You can choose either the Monthly Installment Plan or make a full payment for the semester. The fees below reflect charges for students who move in between January 16, 2015 and January 23, 2015 and stay until May 16, 2015. Charges are pro-rated for students moving in after January 23, 2015. This is an installment payment plan, not monthly rent. Students who vacate due to an approved release of license agreement will be charged on a pro-rated basis.

The first payment is due December 1, 2014. If you receive financial aid of $4300 or more you are required to log into your Student Housing Portal and follow the on-line procedure for verifying your Financial Aid award and confirming that you will be living on campus. Not making your first payment or not verifying on-line that you have sufficient financial aid will result in your contract being cancelled and your bedspace being given to another student.

Initial payment

An initial payment of $175 is due with your license agreement and consists of $50 processing fee and $125 housing payment. The initial payment may be made on-line during the application process. Contact the Student Housing office to make special arrangements to pay by check or money order. The $50 processing fee is non-refundable even if the license agreement is cancelled.

Monthly installment plan

Charges will be posted to your CSUN Student Account, which can be viewed at your myNorthridge Portal account, according to the following schedule. Payments received after the 10th of each month will accrue a late fee of $15 on the 11th day.

Residence Hall Association (RHA) fee

This is an optional one-time $15 fee charged to your CSUN Student Account. To opt out of this fee go you will be required to submit a written letter to RHA and bring it to the Office of Residential Life (building 6, room 104) asking to opt out of the RHA Fee.

Meal plan fee

If you select or are placed in The Suites or a unit without a kitchen in The Apartments, you are required to purchase a meal plan. Meal plan payments are separate from Student Housing; however the deposit for meal plans is accepted on-line during the application process. Please see meal plan payment details on the University Corporation website.

Academic Year 2014-2015: August 23, 2014 to May 16, 2015

Family Housing in the Apartments at University Village: July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2015

The Apartments at University Village is a family housing complex of one- and two-bedroom apartments at the north end of the campus. The complex includes 56 one- and 48 two-bedroom units, each with one bath. Family housing has a community building that includes laundry facilities, mailboxes and a large recreation room available for social gatherings. An outdoor swimming pool and modern play structure are next to the community building.

Family housing is located in the block surrounded by Lassen Street, Zelzah Avenue, Devonshire Street and Lindley Avenue. The main campus is easily accessible on foot or by bicycle. There are also several bus routes. Shopping and other community services are conveniently located nearby.

Apartment features

Each apartment features direct access from the outside, eliminating the need for noisy hallways. Kitchens are equipped with a refrigerator, a range and a garbage disposal. One-bedroom apartments include a dining bar. Two-bedroom units have a separate dining area. Bedrooms contain easily accessible large closets, and there is a separate linen closet in each unit. All apartments come unfurnished. Carpeting and window coverings are provided.

Ground floor apartments have patios, and upper-level apartments have decks. All are situated on the complex's extensive green space. There are a limited number of units designed to accommodate persons with physical disabilities. Family housing offers both partially modified units with accessible bathrooms and fully modified units with accessible bathrooms and kitchens.

*Residence Hall Association (RHA) fee: This is a one-time $15 fee charged to your CSUN student financial account. Licensee may opt out of the charge by submitting a written request to the RHA and delivering it to the Office of Residential Life in Pacific Willow Hall (building 6, room 104). 

Other items

Residents living in family housing are responsible for their own utilities (gas, electricity, cable, phone, etc.) and must contact the service provider directly for service. A CSUN parking permit is required at all times in the parking lots surrounding family housing and the main campus. If a tenant has more than one car, each car will need to display a parking permit. Permits can be purchased from Parking and Transportation Services. A security deposit is required for the remote control device to access the main gate to family housing's parking lot.  

Eligibility

To be eligible for rental housing, the licensee must be a current CSUN student, faculty or staff member who meets the criteria. For eligibility regarding family housing in the Village Apartments, visit the Family Housing page and select Eligibility.

If you select or are placed in an apartment without a kitchen, you are required to purchase a meal plan from The University Corporation's office.
