Welcome to the web page for the Department of Recreation and Tourism Management (formally known as the Department of Leisure Studies and Recreation). As you can see from the Department name change, there is a change in the emphasis of the curriculum program within the Department. This was undertaken to remain in step with the career paths that are increasingly more significant to the professional field of Recreation and Human Services. Travel, Tourism, Hospitality, Event Planning, and Recreational Sport Management have become the largest and fastest growing career areas in our field.
To learn more about us and the many exciting opportunities that await you, please spend a few moments investigating the links below. The link “Greetings From the Chair” provides an overview of the Department, its faculty, mission and philosophy, as well as insights to some of the career paths the faculty and the unique curriculum prepare you for.
To keep in touch with all students and alumni, we do send out both electronic and hard copy newsletters regularly. By reading these past newsletters, you will gain further insight about this very unique and “student centered” Department. Another means in which the alumni, students and faculty of the Recreation and Tourism Department stay in touch is through the annual events the RTM Department sponsors.
Again, please enjoy yourself as you explore these links and others in getting to know us. If you have any questions feel free to contact the Department Chair at firstname.lastname@example.org
