Community service and internship programs are available to students through programs such as those linked below as well as through our centers.
Outreach Programs: Community Interaction and Study Combined
Dietetic Internship Program at the Marilyn Magaram Center - Family & Consumer Sciences
Student Interns get experience providing food and nutrition education and services to individuals, groups and communities.
Early Intervention Program
Communication Disorders & Sciences students and faculty use playful interaction to enhance the development of infants and toddlers who are developmentally delayed in cognitive, speech, language, motor, social and self help skills. The program also assists parents and primary care providers in getting the support they need.
Head Start Higher Education Hispanic Partnership Program (Interdisciplinary)
Students and faculty in Family and Consumer Sciences collaborate with the Child Care Resource Center, Volunteers of America-Los Angeles, and the Latin American Civic Association. University students in the program work toward multicultural understanding and the practice of new teaching strategies. The program does not have online information at this time. Interdisciplinary Program in Gerontology
Health Sciences faculty oversee this program that provides intergenerational service learning opportunities to students and community service to senior citizens.
