  California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is one of 9 existing universities in the State of California that offers an accredited Adapted Physical Education (APE) Added Authorization program. The CSUN APE program is housed in the College of Education and located administratively in the Department of Kinesiology within the College of Health and Human Development. CSUN’s APE program has consistently contributed to the educational training of APE specialists for the second largest school district in the nation, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).
  
  APE Added Authorization is an advanced credential for holders of the following three basic teaching credentials: (a) Single Subject Credential in Physical Education, (b) Multiple Subject Credential, and (c) Education Specialist Credential. Undergraduate students enroll in coursework that serves as the foundation to pursue single-subject physical education (PE) teaching credential and APE Specialist added authorization. Graduate students can also enroll in the single-subject PE teaching credential and APE added authorization programs, or enroll in just the APE added authorization program if they possess one of the preliminary teaching credentials listed above.
  The Department of Kinesiology also offers the Master of Science Degree Program in Kinesiology, APE Specialization. You can pursue the APE Added Authorization along with the Master of Science Degree Program in Kinesiology, APE Specialization concurrently or just the Master of Science Degree Program in Kinesiology, APE Specialization.
