Adapted Physical Education Added Authorization

The existing APE program consists of the following 6 courses and field-based experiences for a total of 23 units:

KIN 347 Introduction to Adapted Physical Education (3 units)

KIN 429 Perceptual Motor Problems of the Atypical Student (3 units)

KIN 447 Implementation and Instruction of APE Programs (3 units)

KIN 448/L Adapted Therapeutic Exercise: Assessment and Design (2/1 units)

KIN 449 PE for Students with Physical Disabilities (3 units)

KIN 547 PE for Students with Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities (3 units)

KIN 498K Individual Supervised Project in APE (5 units)

 

Required Courses (18 units)

Core Courses (6 units) Must earn a B or better

 

Seminars - Choose two courses (6 units)

* Preferred APE Specialization specific seminar

 

Thesis/Project (6 units)

 

Elective Courses - Selected with advisor's approval (12 units)
