Mission Statement
The Athletic Training Education Program at CSUN is committed to providing a high quality education to prepare competent entry-level athletic trainers through case-based learning, which emphasizes critical thinking and decision-making skills. Through diverse educational experiences, and faculty and staff commitment to the profession, the program seeks to foster an environment in which ATSs graduate and become competent clinicians and productive members of society.
Vision Statement
The Athletic Training Education Program at California State University, Northridge seeks to promote and further the athletic training profession through the professional development of high quality athletic training professionals.
Student Objectives
Upon the completion of the ATEP at CSUN, the Athletic Training Student (ATS) will be able to:
2. Demonstrate proficiency of athletic training skills.
3. Perform differential diagnoses for musculoskeletal and general medical conditions.
4. Synthesize treatment plans for musculoskeletal conditions.
5. Demonstrate mastery of entry-level content knowledge and clinical reasoning.
6. Demonstrate a teamed approach to patient health care.
Program Goals
ATEP is designed to:
2. Provide ATSs with the opportunity to develop professional knowledge and skills in both classroom and clinical settings.
3. Provide high quality instruction and structured educational experiences in classroom and clinical settings.
4. Provide advisement and mentoring to ATSs that facilitates successfully gaining employment and/or advanced education goals upon program completion.
5. Provide opportunity and encouragement for ongoing professional development through membership in professional associations and attendance at professional meetings.
6. Prepare certified athletic trainers who are competent clinicians
