CALENDAR 2008 - 2009

The following calendar will identify a series of interactive lectures and hikes leading you to your Half Dome. You are welcome to attend any and all activities. The hikes are progressively more challenging as we make our way to Half Dome. It is suggested that you follow our progressive calendar to help you get better, week by week, month by month. However, because you are all going to reach YOUR Half Dome, there are many other alternative hikes you can engage in that will help you reach your goal. Also, you must remember that you'll be hiking at your own pace so even if the hike seems long . . . there's no rush. You'll get there!

Calendar Summary
Click on hike location to go to a descriptive website.  Sometimes you have to do this 2-3 times or try a different location on the website address line.  If this fails to work, type in the website that is further detailed in the Hikes & Lecture Detail page.  We cannot guarantee all the information on the websites is correct but have done our best to ensure the information is accurate.  Always check your maps to make sure of location and prepare appropriately.

A few other important points:

  • Please note the Informed Consent Document Pdf. This document must be read, signed, and turned in at hikes (where there is a group facilitator) by participants when participating in a group hike. Submitting one form per participant for the duration of CSUN &YOU @ HALF DOME is sufficient.

  • Please recognize that there is no way of predicting how many participants will show up at a given hike. Please carpool where possible and ensure that you are parking in a legal and safe area. Arrive early for better parking opportunities. Some venues will have a parking fee. As indicated if a hike is in the National Forest, an adventure pass is needed. It appears this is only for the last few hikes but please observe signage.

  • The times and dates are suggested for your support groups to make the program work for you but you can also use the trails at any time that is convenient for you. This suggested time is likely when the most participants will be there. Hiking in groups is fun and there is safety in numbers.

A 10 minute stretch routine for you to complete throughout the day or at one sitting.

Check this - For hikes that are in the Angeles National Forest (see training calendar for hikes marked with an *asterisk), you may need a National Forest Adventure pass that is for 1 year from date of purchase. The cost is $30 but you can buy one second vehicle pass for $5 so that the cost for two vehicles is $15 each. Passes can be purchased at sporting good stores, convenience stores near the National Forests or visit www.fsadventurepass.org
